Toddlers are keen to explore the world around them, and our large, light room encourages the children to enjoy exploring their senses through movement and mobility; with soft play and gym house on a large carpeted area.
Staff organise many creative projects including music and cookery. There is a large space for sand, water, painting and malleable activities available daily. Additionally at this stage children are developing their imagination and love the dressing –up area, home corner and book area for quieter moments.
As the children are young and many become tired after lunch they are able to sleep on individual beds.
Busy Bees also have their own outdoor space.
Meet the team
Hi. Before coming to Toots I took the level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and enjoyed the childcare units so decided to take up an apprenticeship. I completed my Level 3 NVQ in ‘Child and Young People’s Workforce,’ securing a job at Toots on completion. I have been employed at Toots since 2011 and enjoyed working in each of the rooms. Having been with the babies for a couple of years I am currently busy with the toddlers in Busy Bees and enjoy doing projects such as ‘naturalising’ the little playground. I enjoy child psychology and have recently enrolled on a degree course.
I have been at Toots since 2006 and have an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare. I have always worked in Busy Bees and my special interest is gardening. The children really enjoy helping with the planting, watering and watching the flowers grow. Where possible we use the produce. I also enjoy creating special displays, e.g. seasonal landscapes.
Hi, I’ve been at Toots throughout my children’s entire school lives and they’re both parents now! Nursery life changes continually so we have enjoyed implementing many new ideas over the years and aim to constantly improve our service. Regarding childcare qualifications I hold the NNEB, CPQS and also NVQ Management Levels 3&5 which focus on management skills. I have varied childcare and management experience, previously working in residential childcare (children’s home,) with mothers who had post-natal depression at Springfield Hospital and as both a Nanny and Childminder. Management-wise I was the Evening Store Supervisor at M&S Clapham and later: Fulltime Training Co-ordinator.
Hi, I’m Connor and I did my Level 2 placement at Toots in Childcare and Education, returning later to work in the nursery. I am working with Busy Bees children as I really love this age group, and I like planning activities, especially aiming to expand their vocabularly and communication skills. I am looking forward to studying for my Level 3 in the future.
Hi I’m Stuart and I work Busy Bee room. I enjoy working with this age group and have undertaken many creative projects with them. Out of work I’m very involved with the scouts and help organize many of their activities. In the longer term I am hoping to use my degree, a BA Honours in photography.
