Our Pre-school room is designed to resemble a nursery class whilst retaining the home comforts and security of the nursery environment. The vibrant, lively atmosphere stimulates our children’s interest in all areas of the curriculum. We encourage learning through a combination of child focussed and adult led activities. With support from our staff, children learn to question the world around them and to experiment, increasing their learning and stretching their potential. Whilst providing math, literacy, science and technology alongside creative activities, the children benefit from an extended curriculum of French, Spanish, Drama and Yoga and enjoy celebrating multi-cultural festivals throughout the year.
The children’s social skills and confidence are encouraged through games, activities and circle time to help prepare them for school. They are given opportunities to take responsibility for their environment and to develop kindness towards each other. This includes strategies such as “helpers of the day”, rotas and tasks. A recent addition has been our conservatory, which has given more scope for creating different environments and leads out to our large garden where the children enjoy outdoor play and gardening.
Meet the team
Hey- my name is Lisa. I started at Toots Jan, 2017. I have worked in childcare most of my working life, gaining experience in different settings. I have worked as a nanny and have special needs, care and education experience gained at Garrett Park School in Tooting. I’ve achieved level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. I’m currently working in Pre-school and really enjoy supporting and encouraging children to progress.
Hi. Before coming to Toots I took the level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and enjoyed the childcare units so decided to take up an apprenticeship. I completed my Level 3 NVQ in ‘Child and Young People’s Workforce,’ securing a job at Toots on completion. I have been employed at Toots since 2011 and enjoyed working in each of the rooms. Having worked with both babies and Busy Bees, I am currently pre-school room leader/acting deputy manager and enjoy doing projects such as ‘naturalising’ the little playground. I enjoy child psychology and am studying for my degree.
Hello, I’m Kaf and I’ve worked at Toots since Jan 2018. My background is in theatre and event management, which enables me to bring something new to the table. My main input is in arts and crafts where we develop exciting projects. I also have a long history of catering experience and run a cookery club in Pre-school that is sponsored by Patisserie Valerie. I am also the P.I.P. (Parents-in-Partnership) Co-ordinator, creating newsletters and information sharing.
